Farm And Fire Fighting Implements For Alawon

Marwin Matienzo, Philippines

I would use the $1,000 to conduct an outreach program at a tribal community in Alawon, Libona, Bukidnon. A recent forest fire in the Kitanglad mountain ranges brought a team from ROTA Philippines to this community and we found out that the men of the village used their bare hands to dig up the earth to bury the coals in combating the flames. The money will be used to buy the community snap sack sprayers, shovels. grab hoes, picks, rakes and other implements which they can use for both farming and fire fighting. A portion of the money would be used for transportation, and food for both the community and volunteers so they can interact during the 2-3 days outreach.
