Computers For Recovery

Ginger Thomas, United States

I am a Voc-Ed Counselor at a women's inpatient substance abuse facility that could positively benefit from $1000. in order to purchase a couple of laptops that would enable residents to prepare for their high school equivalency exams, which will require 40wpm typing skills by 2017. Many of the goals and dreams of these beautiful women hinge on their completion of a high school level education. This is challenging enough for an individual who has been out of school two years, some of our ladies twenty years, never having the opportunity due to their addiction to complete this goal or touch a computer. Education leads to employability, and both are integral parts of long term recovery. Here at Credo Community Center we celebrate the successes of these strong women. We celebrate life.
