Building Hope: A School For Maasai Girls In Kenya

Michelle Cude, United States

With $1,000, I can change the world—for 28 girls. It is well known that educating girls leads to better health, economic well-being, and a brighter future for the whole community. By giving $1,000 to Alice Sayo, who runs the Nasaruni Academy for Maasai Girls, she can buy beds for 28 more girls for the Boarding School who currently do not attend school. Alice is a role model for these girls of the power of education and faith to overcome obstacles and help others. Alice escaped early marriage to go to school, and now helps other girls in the impoverished community. I know Alice because she came as an exchange teacher to my school in the US, and now we are building her school. We have classrooms & 60 students, but the dormitory is empty without beds. Many children are waiting to come to school once the dormitory opens.
