International Women’s Day
"International Women's Day is an opportunity to shine a light on the accomplishments of women, especially the hundreds of millions that cross borders and are economic change agents for their families, their home countries, and their host nations across the globe."
Hikmet Ersek, President & CEO, Western Union
We at Western Union are proud to be partnering with International Women's Day for the second year running. We believe good things happen when money moves, and moving money to fund women's education is hugely important. Knowledge and skills empower girls and women, helping to unlock true potential.
Since launching Education for Better in 2012, the Western Union Foundation has paid more than US$15M to Education for Better grants and formal donations. In 2016 concurrently with International Women’s Day, the Foundation kicked off the second phase on Education for Better with the goal of training 50,000 women and youth around the world with 21st century job skills.
More recently, the WU Foundation has launched the WU Scholars Program helping students around the world pay for school and pursue their dreams.
